This week in my elementary ESL classroom, we are learning about folktales--and vegetables!
I found out that some of my students need to learn basic food vocabulary in English. So we are combining vegetable vocabulary lessons as we learn the story Stone Soup!
I found some great Stone Soup resources on the web, and I posted them on my Pinterest page. Check out my Stone Soup board!

I recently did something very similar with my first grade English Language Learners. There is a great little book version of the tale available from Reading A-Z (if you have a subscription to the site) that they enjoyed reading, too. We compared and contrasted the versions of the story. Finally, we played a wonderful board game from Peaceable Kingdom called Stone Soup. I really like the game because it is a cooperative game versus a competitive game. Everyone works together to "win" as a group. My students absolutely loved the game and keep begging to play it again.
